Under the Sun – West Deptford

My son has attended this location for the last 3 years. He would be staying longer if he did not get accepted into PreK. He started with Under The Sun and is still there with Inspire. With any management change, there will many changes some good and some bad. What I feel has been consistent is the love for the kids. The staff that is with them on a daily basis in the classroom and in the front office, clearly like what they do. In my opinion, it is obvious when my son doesn't want to leave at the end of the day. I would recommend Inspire.
NOTE/UPDATE: The below review only applied to Under The Sun. The new ownership completely changed everything - not in positive ways. My kids no longer go here.

We LOVE Under the Sun! We had to wait a while for a spot to open up for our daughter in the infant room, but that's only because word is getting out that this is THE place to send your babies. They truly have your children's best interest at heart, love them like they're their own, and are so good about communicating with us about our girl through the app and phone calls. We just had baby #2 and he will be joining his sister once I go back to work. The teachers have met our boy and already love him. While maternity leave ending will be so hard, knowing that he's already loved there makes it a little easier on this mama's heart. I only wish they could take a picture every day for the app, but seeing how busy the toddlers are, I understand why/how they can't! We can't recommend Under the Sun enough - just plan ahead and be patient with the waiting list... I promise, it's worth the wait! It was for us

We chose Under the Sun 4 years ago when looking for childcare for our infant son and it is one of the best decisions we have made as parents. Our son looks forward to going to school each day. The staff is incredible and has always treated our son, and us, like family. From day one, we felt comfortable dropping him off and knew he was in good hands. We would recommend this center to anyone that asks and look forward to continuing to use them for years to come!

If my daughter didn’t attended Green-fields Elementary and need to take the bus, I absolutely would have pulled her out of this place the first week of her attending. They are so disorganized and with their new online app, it’s super inconvenient to parents. The app doesn’t work. They can’t seem to get the paper work right online saying I filled out the paperwork wrong for when my daughter was suppose to be attending (before school only) When I first toured Under the Sun I had a set time at 7:30 to meet the director and get a tour, she was 15 minutes late. Then she couldn’t give me a price on what the before school care was because they were going through a buy out and getting a new corporate owner. She gave me the most recent price she had and said it could change a little bit, I agreed and said that was fine and filled out all the paperwork then and there. I also paid my $75 deposit to hold my daughter’s spot. The first day of school rolls around and I still hadn’t heard anything about the price changing…. I hadn’t heard from anyone AT ALL about ANYTHING. On the first day of her attending I dropped her off and then went to the main office with CASH to pay for the month... No one answered the door or was even around to be seen at the front door. Also my daughter’s room (the club house cross the street) has a code to get in, I wasn’t told the code until a week after she had already been attending. The second day I tried to pay again, someone was actually in the office this time and I explained that my daughter had just started and I wanted to pay for the month. Who ever was in the office informed me that payments are only accepted online and weekly. I couldn’t pay with card in the office or give them cash to pay for the month. And I can’t pay for the month online. They are so disorganized and have poor communication and the pre-k teacher just seems so unkind. The online app/website they use wasn’t charging me anything and then I was told I wasn’t paying, I called and told them many times there is no charge on my account, therefore I’ve had nothing to pay. They had my daughter signed up for before and after school care when I told them it would only before school because my husband would pick her up from school. They tried to tell me the paperwork I filled out had before and after school care on it. So I would save the headache of even getting affiliated with them because once the school year is over I’m never sending her back to them again.

My son was enrolled in this school for a month and half before they abruptly kicked him out. I was told he was hitting and attacking children which is insane because he has been at another daycare for 9 months and never once have I got a report saying the things that they said my son was doing. As soon as I walked in I was immediately judged, and I feel it’s because I have tattoos everywhere, you just got that stank face from all the employees, seemed like I was bothering them when I would ask questions, you could tell they didn’t really care for my son too much either, I could tell by their body language. I was told if his behavior continued we would have to have a meeting, so I went to drop him off one day and I was pulled in the office by the director and she told me with a days notice (even though they said they’d give me 2 weeks) that he cannot return due to his behavior. My son is autistic and was shown no patience.
